Zircon crystals from Lovozero, Murmansk, Russia, Gerd Tremmel collection – small cabinet specimen as unique piece

This small cabinet specimen with Zircon crystals originates from the well-known Lovozero Massif on the Kola Peninsula in the Murmansk region, one of the world’s most important alkaline intrusive complexes. The specimen displays several well-developed and clearly recognizable Zircon crystals that stand out in strong contrast against the light-colored, massive matrix. The sharp crystal outlines and dark coloration give the piece a striking appearance, making the crystals distinct focal points within the specimen. UV yellow.

Geology & Origin

The Lovozero Massif is part of the Kola Alkaline Province and is famous for its exceptional diversity of rare and complex mineral formations. Zircon forms here in highly alkaline magmatic systems and is a characteristic accessory mineral of the nepheline syenites found in this region. Specimens from Lovozero are valued for both their mineralogical and scientific significance and are an important component of advanced systematic collections.
