Wavellite crystals from Bihain, Ottre, Belgium – small cabinet specimen as unique piece
This attractive small cabinet specimen displays numerous cream white to slightly beige Wavellite crystals on dense matrix. The typical radial aggregates are clearly visible and give the specimen a highly textured and varied surface. Several of the spherical crystal groups show a silky luster and the characteristic flower like formation typical for Wavellite. The crystals are well developed and contrast beautifully with the light colored matrix.
Geology & Origin
Wavellite is a rare aluminum phosphate mineral that usually occurs in radial or spherical crystal aggregates. The locality near Bihain and Ottre in Belgium is known among collectors for various rare phosphate minerals. Such specimens from Belgium are comparatively uncommon on the market and especially interesting for collectors of classic European mineral localities.
