This filtered longwave UV flashlight is suitable for viewing fluorescent minerals. Under UV light, suitable specimens can display colours and fluorescence that are barely visible under ordinary lighting. The response varies depending on the mineral and individual specimen and is best observed in darkened surroundings.

The flashlight is manufactured especially for Mikon Mineralienkontor and features the Mikon Mineralienkontor marking on its housing. The black metal housing has a textured grip for comfortable handling.

Important battery information

A rechargeable battery is not included and must be purchased separately.

Battery recommendation: The UV flashlight has been tested with the Nitecore NL1823 and works reliably with this model. It is provided as a recommendation. Batteries from other brands may also be suitable, provided they meet the following specifications and have compatible dimensions and terminal shapes:

• Type: 18650 lithium-ion rechargeable battery

• Nominal voltage: 3.7 V

• Capacity of the tested model: 2,300 mAh

• Version: protected, with an integrated protection circuit

The designation “18650” alone does not guarantee a compatible fit, as protected batteries in particular can vary in length.
