Geology & Origin
Variscite and Turquoise are secondary phosphate minerals that form from phosphate-bearing solutions interacting with aluminum-rich rocks. In the Lucin area of Utah, these minerals develop under arid weathering conditions within clay-rich sediments. The locality is world-famous for producing vividly colored specimens, where both minerals often occur intergrown, creating patterns that are of both scientific and aesthetic significance.
