Triploidite; Capoeira Mine, Minas Gerais, Brazil; 1 flat
This flat contains various pieces of massive to slightly fibrous Triploidite from the Capoeira Mine in Minas Gerais. The specimens show mostly dull to weakly lustrous surfaces, with colors ranging from brownish to reddish, grey and olive-green. These samples come directly from a well-known pegmatite zone and are ideal for systematic mineral collections or educational use.
Geology & Origin
Triploidite is a rare manganese-iron phosphate from the triphylite group, typically found in granitic pegmatites. It often occurs together with phosphates such as eosphorite, lithiophilite or triplite. The Capoeira Mine is part of the classic pegmatite region in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais, internationally recognized for its richness in rare phosphate minerals and well-preserved secondary phosphate associations.
