Trechmannite and Hutchinsonite crystals from the Lengenbach Quarry, Binntal, Valais, Switzerland –  micromount as unique piece

This micromount specimen features crystals of Trechmannite and Hutchinsonite from the Lengenbach Quarry, Binntal, Valais, Switzerland. The fine, light-colored matrix hosts the characteristic darker sulfosalt aggregates in a compact arrangement, creating a calm yet highly distinctive representation of this classic Lengenbach association. Despite its small size, the specimen has considerable mineralogical significance, making it especially appealing to specialized collectors of rare Lengenbach minerals. The piece is clearly documented and originates from find L-24580.

Geology & Origin

Trechmannite and Hutchinsonite belong to the group of complex lead–arsenic sulfosalts for which the Lengenbach Quarry is internationally renowned. Their formation required very specific geochemical conditions within dolomitic host rock, resulting in an exceptional diversity of rare mineral species. The Binntal locality remains one of the world’s most important sites for such sulfosalts and is of outstanding importance for both collectors and mineralogical research.
