White faceted Topaz with approx. 5 mm from Madagascar – 10 pieces
This lot of 10 faceted white Topaz stones from Madagascar measures approx. 5 mm each and displays a bright clear coloration with lively light reflections. The faceted surfaces give the stones an attractive brilliance and create an elegant sparkle when exposed to light. Due to their precisely cut shape these specimens are especially suitable for jewelry creations or delicate inlay work. As these are sample pieces slight variations in shape and size are possible.
Geology & Origin
Topaz is a fluorine bearing aluminium silicate belonging to the nesosilicate group and with a Mohs hardness of about 8 it is considered one of the harder gemstones. It forms mainly in pegmatitic and hydrothermal deposits where it often develops well formed crystals. Madagascar is one of the well known sources for high quality Topaz and produces material with good transparency and attractive optical appearance. These faceted specimens display the characteristic properties of white Topaz in polished form.
Application Note
The stones are well suited for jewelry creations such as earrings pendants rings or decorative craft projects as well as for collections. Despite their good hardness Topaz should be protected from strong impacts because of its cleavage and stored carefully.
