Geology & Origin
Tanzanite is a rare blue violet variety of the mineral Zoisite and is found exclusively in a small mining area near Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. The gemstone was only discovered in the 20th century and is now considered one of Africa’s most famous gemstones. Tanzanite is especially valued for its extraordinary coloration and its characteristic pleochroic color play.
Application Notes
The faceted gemstone is ideal for jewelry creations such as rings pendants or earrings. Due to the pointed underside the stone can easily be mounted into classic gemstone settings. As Tanzanite is more sensitive than many other gemstones it should be protected from strong impacts and scratches.
