This flat contains a varied selection of different UV-active minerals from the world-famous Franklin Furnace locality. The natural specimens differ in shape, size, colour and mineral composition, offering an attractive assortment of characteristic rocks and minerals from this exceptional deposit. Many specimens display impressive fluorescence under shortwave UV (SWUV) or longwave UV (LWUV). Geology & Locality

Franklin Furnace in Sussex County, New Jersey, is one of the world's most famous localities for fluorescent minerals. The deposit formed through the metamorphism of manganese-rich sedimentary rocks and is renowned for its exceptional mineral diversity. More than 350 mineral species have been identified from the district, including many rare and strongly fluorescent minerals.
