Sphaerocobaltite crystals from Bou Azzer, Morocco, Gerd Tremmel collection –  miniature specimen as unique piece

This miniature specimen features Sphaerocobaltite crystals in characteristic pink to purplish tones. The crystals occur as granular to finely crystalline aggregates and stand out clearly against the darker contrasting matrix. Individual crystal faces are not sharply isolated, but the crystalline nature is clearly visible. This granular texture is typical for Sphaerocobaltite from this locality and gives the specimen a classic and authentic appearance. Crystals are clearly present rather than forming a purely amorphous coating.

Geology & Origin

Bou Azzer in Morocco is a world famous cobalt district and a classic locality for Sphaerocobaltite. The mineral formed in hydrothermal ore veins, commonly associated with arsenides and other cobalt bearing minerals. The locality is regarded as a reference source for vividly colored Sphaerocobaltite crystals and has long been an important origin for high quality collector specimens.
