Sinnerite and Hutchinsonite crystals from the Lengenbach Quarry, Binntal, Valais, Switzerland – miniature specimen as unique piece
This miniature specimen features crystals of Sinnerite and Hutchinsonite from the Lengenbach Quarry, Binntal, Valais, Switzerland. The fine-grained, light-colored matrix hosts the dark to metallic sulfosalt crystals in a compact arrangement, resulting in a subtle yet mineralogically distinctive appearance. The specimen is particularly suited for specialized collectors of classic Lengenbach minerals and represents a well-documented single specimen. It originates from find L-22322.
Geology & Origin
Sinnerite and Hutchinsonite belong to the group of rare lead–arsenic sulfosalts for which the Lengenbach Quarry is internationally renowned. Their formation is linked to highly specific geochemical conditions within dolomitic host rock, giving rise to an exceptional diversity of rare minerals. The Binntal locality remains one of the world’s most important sites for complex sulfosalts and is of outstanding relevance to both collectors and scientific research.
