Scholzite crystals from Hagendorf, Upper Palatinate, Germany, Gerd Tremmel collection –  miniature specimen as unique piece

This miniature specimen displays clearly visible Scholzite crystals from Hagendorf, Upper Palatinate, Germany, from the Gerd Tremmel collection. The colorless to faintly yellowish Scholzite crystals stand out distinctly against the light gray to whitish matrix and occur in a compact arrangement. Their slender, needle-like to prismatic crystal forms create fine visual accents across the surface and give the specimen a balanced and mineralogically appealing appearance. The combination of clear crystal development and contrasting matrix makes this a characteristic and attractive Scholzite specimen from Hagendorf.

Geology & Origin

The pegmatites of Hagendorf are among the most important classic localities for phosphate minerals in Germany. Scholzite formed here as a secondary phosphate mineral during late to post-magmatic processes within lithium-rich pegmatites. The locality is internationally renowned for its wide variety of well developed phosphate minerals and continues to provide reference specimens for systematic mineral collections.
