Roselite crystals from Bou Azzer, Morocco – small cabinet specimen as unique piece

This small cabinet specimen features Roselite crystals from Bou Azzer, Morocco. The intense pink to carmine red Roselite forms striking crystalline coatings and granular aggregates on a light colored matrix. Particularly decorative are the vividly colored areas with their delicate crystal structures and the strong contrast between the white to beige sections and the dark red shimmering mineralizations. The Roselite crystals are clearly visible and give the specimen a highly attractive appearance for collectors of rare cobalt arsenates.

Geology & origin

Bou Azzer in Morocco is one of the world’s most important localities for cobalt and arsenic bearing secondary minerals. The deposits formed within complex hydrothermal ore veins hosted by ultramafic rocks of the Anti Atlas Mountains. Roselite formed there as a secondary cobalt calcium arsenate through the alteration of primary cobalt ores under oxidizing conditions. The area is internationally famous for its exceptionally colorful and rare arsenate minerals and has produced high quality collector specimens for decades.
