Rhodolite Garnet, faceted, approx. 11.5 × 5 mm, from Africa – unique piece
This faceted Rhodolite Garnet from Africa measures approx. 11.5 × 5 mm and shows an intense purplish red to pinkish red color with strong brilliance. The faceted surfaces allow light to move across the stone in clear, lively reflections, emphasizing the depth of color and natural transparency. Rhodolite Garnet is known for its balanced combination of red and violet tones, giving this specimen a particularly elegant and eye catching appearance. The slim, elongated shape makes the stone visually distinctive and versatile in use.
Geology & origin
Rhodolite Garnet belongs to the garnet group and represents a solid solution between pyrope and almandine. It forms under high temperature and pressure conditions in metamorphic rocks. Its characteristic purplish red to pinkish red color is determined by its chemical composition within the garnet group. Africa is one of the important sources of Rhodolite Garnet and produces material with strong color and good transparency. This specimen shows the typical properties of Rhodolite Garnet in faceted form.
Application note
The stone is suitable, among other things, for jewelry making such as rings, pendants, or earrings, as well as for gemstone collections. Due to its elongated shape, it is especially suitable for individual jewelry designs. Rhodolite Garnet has good hardness, but it should still be protected from strong mechanical impact. For cleaning, lukewarm water and a soft cloth are recommended.
