Rhodolite, faceted, approx. 7 × 5 mm, from Africa – 1 piece
This faceted Rhodolite from Africa measures approx. 7 × 5 mm and shows an intense purplish red to pinkish red color with lively brilliance. The faceted surfaces allow light to reflect across the stone in clear reflections, enhancing the depth of color and natural transparency. Rhodolite is known for its balanced combination of red and violet tones, giving the stone an elegant and warm appearance. With its classic shape, this specimen is suitable both for jewelry making and as an attractive collector’s piece.
Geology & origin
Rhodolite belongs to the garnet group and represents a solid solution between pyrope and almandine. It forms under high temperature and pressure conditions in metamorphic rocks. Its characteristic purplish red to pinkish red color is determined by its chemical composition within the garnet group. Africa is one of the important sources of Rhodolite and produces material with strong color and good transparency. This specimen shows the typical properties of Rhodolite in faceted form.
Application note
The stone is suitable, among other things, for jewelry making such as rings, pendants, or earrings, as well as for gemstone collections. Due to its compact shape, it is versatile in use. Rhodolite has good hardness, but it should still be protected from strong mechanical impact. For cleaning, lukewarm water and a soft cloth are recommended.
