Quartz crystals from Orange River, South Africa – 1 unique flat
This collection presents a beautiful selection of colorful quartz crystals from the famous Orange River area in Northern Cape, South Africa. In addition to smoky to violet-toned single crystals, there are also complex cluster specimens with zoned color transitions – including reddish-brown hematite coatings and rare amethyst-citrine overgrowths. Especially noteworthy is a striking matrix specimen with a strongly zoned and vividly colored crystal.
The Orange River region is globally renowned for its vividly colored quartz with spectacular contrasts. Iron-induced color zoning is common, often caused by hematite or limonite. This flat comes from various field collections along the South Africa–Namibia border and provides a representative overview of the area's typical paragenesis.
The flat shown in the pictures will be shipped with the corresponding box and, if applicable, folding boxes. These may be partially used, show signs of wear, and have multiple labels or markings.
