Pyromorphite crystals from Tanzfleck, Taunus, Germany – small cabinet specimen as unique piece

This small cabinet specimen features numerous bright yellow-green Pyromorphite crystals on a light-coloured, partly quartz-rich matrix. The crystals are nestled within cavities and openings of the rock, while white to grey areas and ochre-coloured iron oxide coatings create a striking natural contrast. The varied texture and vivid colours make this unique specimen an attractive addition to any mineral collection.

Geology & Origin

The Tanzfleck locality in the Taunus region is one of Germany's well-known occurrences of secondary lead and phosphate minerals. Pyromorphite formed in the oxidation zone of lead-bearing ore deposits, where mineral-rich solutions crystallised within fractures and cavities. The locality is especially renowned for its vividly coloured Pyromorphite crystals and has been appreciated by collectors for many years.
