Pyromorphite crystals fom Longkamp, Hunsrück, Germany – micromount as unique specimen
This micromount features numerous Pyromorphite crystals on a contrasting matrix. The crystals display warm honey-yellow to brownish-yellow colours with a bright lustre and are set on a light Quartz matrix with darker ore-bearing areas. Despite its small size, the specimen offers an attractive crystal display with well-developed crystals, making it an excellent addition to any micromount collection.
Geology & Origin
Longkamp in the Hunsrück region is one of Germany's classic localities for secondary lead minerals. Pyromorphite formed through the weathering of lead-bearing ore veins, where phosphate-rich solutions produced the characteristic hexagonal crystals. Specimens from this locality are highly valued by collectors for their well-formed crystals and historical significance.
