Pyromorphite and Cerussite crystals from Tanzfleck, Taunus, Germany – small cabinet specimen as unique piece

This impressive collector specimen from the well known Tanzfleck locality in the Taunus region features a rich mineral association of Pyromorphite and Cerussite. Numerous crystal groups of varying sizes are distributed across the strongly textured matrix. The honey yellow to brownish Cerussite crystals are clearly visible and form attractive aggregates within cavities and on exposed surfaces. Fine Pyromorphite crystals complement the specimen and enhance its diverse appearance. Crystals are well developed and contribute significantly to the aesthetic appeal of the piece.

Geology & Origin

Pyromorphite (Pb₅(PO₄)₃Cl) and Cerussite (PbCO₃) are classic secondary minerals of lead deposits. They form through the weathering and alteration of primary lead ores such as Galena. The Tanzfleck locality in the Taunus region is known among collectors for its diverse lead mineralization and secondary mineral assemblages. The association of Cerussite and Pyromorphite reflects the complex geochemical processes within the oxidation zone and makes specimens like this highly desirable examples of mineral formation.
