Pierrotite, Weissbergite and other thallium minerals – One Miniature specimen

This Min presents rare thallium minerals from the Lookout Pass Thallium Prospect in Utah, including Pierrotite, Weissbergite and other associated species typical for this locality. The matrix is mostly fine-grained to compact and displays light, cream-coloured, grey or slightly brownish tones characteristic of this mineral group. Some areas show clearly recognisable structural surface textures, while others appear more massive, reflecting the natural variability of the mineralisation. This Min is ideal for collectors wishing to expand their collection with rare and geochemically significant mineral species.

Geology & origin

Lookout Pass in Tooele County, Utah, is one of the few localities worldwide where several thallium minerals occur together. Confirmed species include Pierrotite (TlFe³⁺₂(As,Sb)₅S₉) and Weissbergite (TlSbS₂). The mineralisation belongs to a thallium- and antimony-rich sulphide association that has been scientifically documented in this area for many years. Utah is regarded as an important region for rare sulphidic thallium minerals, which are known from only a small number of occurrences worldwide.
