Phurcalite and Zippeite (UV-active!) from the Posey Mine in Utah, USA; 100 kg
This 100 kg position from the Posey Mine in Utah consists of yellow to ochre porous fragments with visible crusts of secondary uranium minerals. A particularly striking feature is the strong fluorescence under shortwave and longwave UV light. Zippeite and Phurcalite display intense green fluorescence, sometimes with orange zones.
Geology & Origin
The Posey Mine is a classic locality for secondary uranium minerals within the Colorado Plateau. These mineralizations formed by oxidation of primary uranium ores in sandstone formations and are known for their rich associations of fluorescent minerals such as Zippeite, Phurcalite, Metaautunite or Uranophane. The offered material comes from historic old stock.
