Scolecite crystals from Pune, India, Gerd Tremmel collection –  cabinet specimen as unique piece

This cabinet specimen features Scolecite crystals from Pune, India. The colorless to milky-white Scolecite crystals are needle-like to columnar in habit and form dense, fan-shaped to radiating clusters with strong three-dimensional development. The crystals grow outward from a central point, creating a dynamic, almost explosive structure that is typical of high-quality Scolecite specimens from this locality. The consistent crystal formation and vitreous luster give the piece strong visual appeal and make it an attractive collector specimen.

Geology & Origin

The Pune region in India is world-renowned for its zeolite parageneses formed within cavities of basaltic lava flows. Scolecite crystallized from calcium-rich, low-temperature hydrothermal fluids and commonly forms acicular crystals in radial aggregates. Well-developed Scolecite crystal specimens like this represent classic finds from Pune and are highly valued by collectors for their distinctive growth habits. The piece dates from before 1979.
