Helvine and Quartz crystals from Huifong, Guangdong, China, Gerd Tremmel collection – small cabinet specimen as unique piece

This cabinet specimen features Helvine and Quartz crystals from Huifong, Guangdong, China, originating from the Gerd Tremmel collection. The light-colored, prismatic Quartz crystals form a dense, upright cluster with well-developed crystal faces and a partially glassy luster. Small, dark Helvine crystals are intergrown among the Quartz crystals, adding mineralogical contrast and clear collector appeal. The balanced crystal arrangement creates a stable and visually pleasing overall appearance. The specimen dates from before 2002 and represents classic collector material from a locality that is now only limitedly accessible.

Geology & Origin

The Huifong area in Guangdong Province, China, is known for pegmatitic and hydrothermal mineral formations. Quartz crystallized from silica-rich fluids within open cavities, while Helvine, a rare beryllium-manganese silicate, formed under specific geochemical conditions. The association of both minerals as crystals is characteristic for this locality and is especially valued in older collection specimens, as comparable material has become increasingly scarce today.
