Arsenogoyazite crystals from Murcia, Spain, Gerd Tremmel collection – small cabinet specimen as unique piece

This small cabinet specimen shows Arsenogoyazite crystals from Murcia, Spain, from the Gerd Tremmel collection. The surface is characterized by yellow to ochre colored crusts and fine crystalline coatings contrasting with a darker, iron rich matrix. The Arsenogoyazite crystals occur in dense, granular aggregates with a matte to slightly silky appearance. Some areas reveal a clearly crystalline structure that gives the specimen a lively relief. The warm color tones combined with darker zones create a distinctive and mineralogically typical appearance.

Geology & Origin

Arsenogoyazite belongs to the Goyazite group within the alunite supergroup and is a rare lead aluminum arsenate mineral. It forms secondarily in oxidized zones of arsenic bearing ore deposits, typically associated with lead and iron mineralization. The Murcia region in Spain is known for complex hydrothermal deposits with diverse secondary mineral assemblages in the oxidation zone. The Arsenogoyazite crystals found here document the geochemical alteration processes of arsenic rich primary ores under the influence of oxygen and circulating fluids.
