Apatite and Dravite–Schorl crystals from Panasqueira, Portugal, Gerd Tremmel collection – cabinet specimen as unique piece
This cabinet specimen features well-developed Apatite crystals in striking association with Dravite-Schorl crystals from the renowned Panasqueira locality in Portugal, from the Gerd Tremmel collection. The Apatite crystals display strong, well-defined forms with a vitreous luster and are accompanied by dark, prismatic Dravite-Schorl crystals, creating a highly attractive mineralogical contrast. The dense and multi-layered crystal intergrowth gives the specimen a lively structure and clearly emphasizes the crystalline character of this classic paragenesis.
Geology & Origin
The Panasqueira mine is one of the world’s most important hydrothermal tin and tungsten deposits. Apatite and Dravite-Schorl form here in complex parageneses within steeply dipping veins influenced by granitic intrusions. The locality is internationally recognized for its diverse and exceptionally well-developed crystal formations and has produced outstanding collector specimens of high mineralogical and aesthetic value for decades.
