Geodes with Quartz crystals from Morocco – 1 unique flat
This collection consists of numerous cut geodes whose cavities are completely lined with fine, sparkling Quartz crystals. The pieces display the characteristic structure of Moroccan Quartz geodes: an outer shell of chalcedony or Quartz, often slightly yellowish to beige, while the interior is covered with densely grown, glittering Quartz crystals. By cutting the geodes open, the crystal filled cavities become visible and reveal an attractive combination of natural geometry and crystalline surfaces. The crystals form many small, well developed points inside the cavities, reflecting light and giving the specimens their typical sparkle.
Geology & origin The offered geodes originate from Morocco, one of the best known sources of Quartz geodes worldwide. In several regions of the country, especially within volcanic rock formations, cavities formed in the host rock during geological processes. These cavities were later penetrated by silica rich solutions from which Quartz crystallized along the inner walls. Over long geological periods numerous Quartz crystals grew inward into the cavities and created the typical drusy crystal surfaces seen today. The specimens in this flat clearly illustrate this characteristic formation process of Moroccan Quartz geodes.
The flat shown in the pictures will be shipped with the corresponding box and, if applicable, folding boxes. These may be partially used, show signs of wear, and have multiple labels or markings.
