Natrolite crystals from Horseshoe Dam, AZ, USA – small cabinet specimen as unique piece

This attractive cabinet specimen displays numerous pale Natrolite crystals forming characteristic spherical to rosette-like aggregates on contrasting dark matrix. The fine crystal needles create dense radiating intergrowths, giving the individual aggregates their distinctive appearance. Well developed crystal groups are distributed across the display surface, creating an appealing contrast between the cream white crystals and the surrounding host rock.

Geology & Origin

Natrolite belongs to the zeolite group and commonly forms within cavities of volcanic rocks through the action of mineral rich hydrothermal solutions. The Horseshoe Dam locality in Arizona is known for a variety of zeolite minerals that crystallize in fractures and vugs of volcanic host rocks. The characteristic spherical Natrolite aggregates develop through the radiating growth of countless fine crystal needles. Attractive display specimens from Arizona are highly appreciated by collectors of zeolites and rare secondary minerals.
