This 100 g lot contains natural Morganite rough stones from Nigeria in a variety of sizes and shapes. The pieces predominantly display delicate pink, cream and light beige tones, with some milky to slightly translucent areas. Their natural fracture surfaces, varying transparency and subtle colour nuances create a diverse selection with a characteristic unpolished appearance.
Geology & Origin
Morganite is the pink to peach-coloured variety of the mineral Beryl and belongs to the same mineral group as Aquamarine and Emerald. Its colour is mainly caused by small amounts of manganese. Morganite typically forms in granitic pegmatites, where beryllium-rich minerals can develop under conditions of slow crystal growth. Nigeria is known for numerous pegmatite occurrences containing a variety of Beryl and gemstone minerals.
