Mixed minerals from the Tsumeb Mine, Namibia, Ilse Baer collection, pre-1972 – 1 unique half size flat
This half size flat contains a varied selection of classic minerals from the Tsumeb Mine in Namibia, originating from the Ilse Baer collection and assembled before 1972. The specimens display a wide range of colours, textures and intergrowths typical of this world-famous locality. The preserved structures vary from compact aggregates to fine-grained or layered formations on differently coloured matrix, offering an impressive overview of the mineral diversity characteristic of this historic mine.
Geology & Origin
The Tsumeb Mine is one of the most important polymetallic deposits worldwide, renowned for its exceptionally complex mineralisation. Over several geological phases, distinct oxidation, secondary and sulphide zones developed, giving rise to an extraordinary variety of individual mineral species. The specimens in this flat reflect this geochemical richness and provide an authentic representation of the mineralogy from an early collection period prior to 1972.
The flat shown in the pictures will be shipped with the corresponding box and, if applicable, folding boxes. These may be partially used, show signs of wear, and have multiple labels or markings.
