Geology & Origin
The Friedrichssegen Mine near Bad Ems belongs to the historic mining district of the lower Lahn Valley in Rhineland-Palatinate. The area is characterized mainly by hydrothermal vein deposits containing various lead, zinc, copper and other ore minerals as well as numerous secondary minerals. Weathering and alteration processes produced a wide variety of mineral associations, making the locality particularly interesting for systematic collections and micromount specimens.
