Metavauxite crystals from Llallagua, Bolivia, Gerd Tremmel collection – miniature specimen as unique piece

This miniature specimen displays abundant Metavauxite crystals in dense, surface-covering aggregates on matrix. The fine-crystalline coatings show a characteristic blue-green to turquoise color and nearly cover the entire surface. The crystals are clearly recognizable and form a lively, sparkling texture with fine prismatic to acicular development. Yellowish to ochre areas within the matrix provide an attractive color contrast and emphasize the natural formation of the piece.

The combination of vivid color, dense crystal coverage and classic locality makes this miniature specimen a highly appealing collector’s item, especially for enthusiasts of secondary phosphate minerals from Bolivia.

Geology & Origin

Llallagua in Bolivia is one of the world’s most important tin mining districts. The Metavauxite crystals formed there as secondary phosphate minerals within the oxidation zone of complex ore deposits. Weathering of primary sulfide minerals and the circulation of phosphate-bearing solutions led to the development of fine crystalline, often intensely colored coatings in cavities and fractures. The typical blue-green Metavauxite crystals from Llallagua are highly appreciated by collectors worldwide and are considered classic representatives of this paragenesis.
