Manganodiaspore crystals from Postmasburg, South Africa – small cabinet micromount as unique piece

 

This micromount specimen shows Mangandiaspore crystals from Postmasburg, South Africa. The piece displays a dark metallic to submetallic surface with numerous finely developed crystals.

The Mangandiaspore crystals occur in a densely packed formation and show small reflective faces that give the specimen a lively sparkle. The dominant colors are dark grey to black, with subtle reddish brown tones. The surface appears irregular and detailed, with a clearly visible crystalline character creating an attractive shimmering effect.

Geology & Origin

Mangandiaspore is a rare manganese mineral that forms in the oxidation zones of manganese rich deposits. It commonly occurs in association with other manganese oxides and hydroxides.

The Postmasburg region in South Africa is well known for its important manganese deposits and produces a wide variety of interesting and rare manganese minerals in different forms of development.
