intergrown Lomonosovite crystals from Lovozero, Murmansk, Russia, Gerd Tremmel collection –  small cabinet specimen as unique piece

This small cabinet specimen features intergrown Lomonosovite crystals from the Lovozero Massif on the Kola Peninsula, Murmansk, Russia, from the Gerd Tremmel collection. The dark red to reddish-brown Lomonosovite crystals stand out clearly within the light-colored, quartz- and mica-rich matrix, creating strong visual contrasts. The crystals display a compact, blocky habit and give the specimen a striking overall appearance through their intense coloration and clear definition.

Geology & Origin

The Lovozero Massif is one of the world’s most important alkaline intrusive complexes and is renowned for its exceptional diversity of rare silicate minerals. Lomonosovite forms here in highly alkaline, sodium-rich rocks and is characteristic of the complex late-magmatic and hydrothermal processes of this deposit. Lovozero is considered a classic locality for rare mineral species and continues to produce highly sought-after collector specimens.
