This micromount specimen displays finely developed Leiteite with a typical elongated and slightly curved habit. The mineral shows a pale silvery white to slightly translucent appearance with silky luster and appears especially elegant due to its delicate form. Despite its small size, this is a characteristic and aesthetic collector specimen from the world famous Tsumeb Mine.
Geology & Origin
The Tsumeb Mine in the Otavi Mountains of Namibia is one of the world’s most important mineral localities. The deposit is renowned for its exceptional diversity of rare minerals and for outstanding collector specimens. Leiteite is a rare sulfosalt mineral formed within the complex oxidized ore zones of the deposit. Specimens from Tsumeb are especially valued for their mineralogical rarity, high quality and extraordinary mineral associations.
