Kinoite crystals from the Christmas Mine, AZ, USA – small cabinet specimen as unique piece

This vividly colored specimen displays numerous Kinoite crystals as bright blue to deep azure crystalline coatings on a light-colored matrix. The crystals cover large portions of the surface and create an exceptional contrast against the beige host rock. The fine crystalline aggregates are clearly visible and give the specimen an attractive sparkling appearance. The intense coloration and extensive coverage make this an especially decorative collector's specimen from one of Arizona's classic copper deposits.

Geology & Origin

Kinoite is a rare hydrated copper-calcium silicate and is among the most sought-after secondary minerals from oxidized copper deposits. The mineral was first described from the Christmas Mine and owes much of its significance among collectors to this world-famous locality. The Christmas Mine in Arizona is one of North America's classic copper deposits and has produced numerous rare copper minerals of exceptional quality. Due to its intense blue color, Kinoite is considered one of the most striking and desirable minerals from this locality.
