Jankovicite crystals from the Jiepaiyu Mine, Shimen, China – micromount as unique piece
This micromount with Jankovicite crystals originates from the Jiepaiyu Mine near Shimen, China, an internationally renowned locality for rare thallium- and arsenic-bearing minerals. The specimen displays an expressive paragenesis, with dark, metallically lustrous Jankovicite crystals forming the focal point. These are accompanied by intensely red Realgar crystals providing a striking color accent, as well as colorless to slightly transparent Fluorite crystals serving as a contrasting matrix. The crystals are clearly recognizable and give the micromount a strong three-dimensional structure and remarkable visual depth.
Geology & Origin
The Jiepaiyu Mine is part of a complex hydrothermal system in which arsenic- and thallium-rich fluids enabled the formation of rare sulfosalts. Jankovicite commonly forms here in close association with Realgar and Fluorite, often as small but well-defined crystal groups. The locality is highly regarded for scientifically significant micromount specimens and is known for producing characteristic mineral associations with high mineralogical relevance.
