Geology & origin
Jadeite is a sodium and aluminium rich pyroxene mineral and belongs to the group of jade minerals. It forms under high pressure conditions in metamorphic rocks and has been valued for thousands of years due to its toughness and attractive color variations. Myanmar, formerly Burma, is one of the world’s most important sources of high quality Jadeite and produces especially desirable material in various green shades and translucent qualities. This specimen displays the typical characteristics of polished Jadeite in cabochon form.
Application note
The stone is suitable for jewelry creations such as rings, pendants, or inlay work as well as for mineral collections. Due to its good toughness, Jadeite is a popular gemstone for everyday jewelry. Cleaning with lukewarm water and a soft cloth is recommended.
