Imhofite and Hutchinsonite crystals from the Lengenbach Quarry, Binntal, Valais, Switzerland – micromount as unique piece
This micromount features Imhofite and Hutchinsonite crystals from the Lengenbach Quarry in the Binntal, Valais, Switzerland. The crystals are set in light-colored matrix and display the characteristic, finely developed sulfosalt parageneses typical of this classic locality. Despite the small size, the crystal aggregates are clearly recognizable and allow for reliable mineral identification. This specimen is well suited for advanced Lengenbach collections as well as systematically curated micromount collections and is offered as a single piece.
Geology & Origin
The Lengenbach Quarry in the Binntal is one of the world’s most important localities for rare sulfosalt minerals. Imhofite and Hutchinsonite form within a complex, metamorphosed dolomite host rock, renowned for its exceptionally arsenic-rich mineral assemblages. For decades, this locality has produced scientifically significant and highly sought-after specimens, particularly in the micromount field.
