Heulandite and Apophyllite crystals from Jalgaon, India, Gerd Tremmel collection – cabinet specimen as unique piece
This cabinet specimen displays impressively developed Heulandite and Apophyllite crystals from Jalgaon, India, from the Gerd Tremmel collection. The clear to milky-transparent Apophyllite crystals form prominent, sharply defined aggregates with a vitreous luster and dominate the overall appearance of the specimen. Intergrown with them are densely developed Heulandite crystals in pale green to bluish tones, creating a finely structured and harmonious crystal assemblage. The strong contrast between crystal habits and colors gives the specimen a particularly balanced and visually appealing character.
Geology & Origin
The Jalgaon area in the Indian state of Maharashtra is part of the famous Deccan Traps basalt province and is one of the world’s classic localities for zeolite minerals. Heulandite and Apophyllite crystallize here in cavities of basaltic rocks from low-temperature hydrothermal fluids. The locality is internationally renowned for its exceptionally well-developed crystals and has produced high-quality collector specimens for decades.
