Hemimorphite and Wulfenite crystals from the 79 Mine, AZ, USA – cabinet specimen as unique piece

This attractive cabinet specimen originates from the famous 79 Mine in Arizona and displays a beautiful combination of Hemimorphite and Wulfenite. Particularly striking are the light blue to turquoise Hemimorphite crystals and crystalline aggregates lining cavities and openings within the matrix. The crystals are clearly recognizable and form botryoidal and finely crystalline structures with excellent visual appeal. Small Wulfenite crystals are also present as contrasting associated minerals, adding further interest to this classic mineral assemblage.

Geology & Origin

Hemimorphite is a hydrated zinc silicate that forms in the oxidation zones of zinc-bearing deposits. Wulfenite is a lead molybdate that develops under similar conditions and is commonly associated with other secondary minerals. The 79 Mine in Arizona is one of the most famous North American localities for vividly colored Hemimorphite specimens and numerous rare associated minerals. The intense blue coloration and distinctive crystal habits make specimens from this locality highly sought after by mineral collectors worldwide.
