Hemimorphite crystals from Glücksrad Mine, Oberschulenberg, Harz, Germany – micromount specimen as unique piece

This micromount features fine Hemimorphite crystals on a light-coloured matrix. The colourless to white crystals display a vitreous lustre and form a delicate crystalline coating across the specimen. Natural brown and beige tones together with subtle bluish-green mineral coatings create an attractive and collectible single specimen.

Geology & Origin

The Glücksrad Mine near Oberschulenberg in the Harz Mountains is one of Germany's classic zinc and lead deposits. Hemimorphite formed here as a secondary mineral within the oxidation zone through the alteration of zinc-bearing ores. The Harz is one of Germany's most important historic mining regions and is renowned for its remarkable diversity of ore and secondary minerals.
