Hemimorphite crystals from the 79 Mine, AZ, USA – cabinet specimen as unique piece

This attractive cabinet specimen displays Hemimorphite in an exceptionally decorative habit from the famous 79 Mine in Arizona. The surface is covered by light blue to turquoise Hemimorphite crystals and crystalline coatings, locally forming botryoidal and rosette-like aggregates. The vivid color and varied texture create a striking contrast against the brown matrix. Crystals are clearly recognizable and give the specimen outstanding visual appeal for collectors.

Geology & Origin

Hemimorphite is a zinc silicate and one of the best known secondary minerals found in the oxidation zones of zinc deposits. The 79 Mine in Arizona is a classic North American locality renowned for high quality Hemimorphite specimens and especially for brightly colored blue to turquoise crystal aggregates. The mineral forms through the weathering of primary zinc ores and develops crusts, botryoidal aggregates and crystal coatings within cavities and fractures of the host rock.
