Hematoide-Quartz from Baiersbronn, Black Forest, Germany – micromount specimen as unique piece

This micromount specimen displays Hematoide Quartz with an attractive reddish to orange coloration. The vivid color is caused by finely dispersed hematite inclusions, giving the quartz its characteristic appearance. No distinct free-standing crystals are recognizable on this specimen. Instead, the quartz occurs as a compact massive aggregate with appealing coloration and decorative character.

Geology & Origin

Hematoide Quartz is a variety of quartz whose red to orange colors result from microscopic hematite inclusions. Such formations develop during crystal growth when iron-rich solutions become incorporated into the quartz. The Black Forest is one of Germany’s classic mineral collecting regions and is well known for its diverse quartz and ore mineralizations. This specimen originates from Baiersbronn, a historic locality within this important mineral district.
