This micromount features numerous lustrous Hematite crystals in deep steel-grey to black colours. The sharp, tabular crystals form a dense aggregate with a bright metallic lustre, giving the specimen a distinctive appearance. Its well-developed crystal habit makes it an excellent addition to any micromount collection.
Geology & Origin
The locality between Lenzkirch and Titisee in Germany's Black Forest is known for hydrothermal mineralisation. Hematite formed from iron-rich fluids that crystallised within fractures and cavities of the host rock. The Black Forest is one of Germany's most important mineral regions and is renowned for producing a wide variety of high-quality collector specimens.
