Hedyphane and Pyrophanite from Harstigen, Sweden – cabinet specimen as a unique piece

This specimen has an irregular, compact shape and a granular to scaly surface texture. Gray and silvery reflective areas contrast with darker patches and yellowish ochre to rusty-brown accents. Its natural, varied pattern continues across the specimen’s different faces.

Geology & Origin
Harstigen in Värmland is a small iron and manganese mine in the Pajsberg mining district of Sweden. The ores occur in a dolomite lens and include manganese-rich skarns as well as iron mineralization. Hedyphane is a lead-calcium arsenate, while Pyrophanite is a manganese titanium oxide; both minerals are known from the mineral-rich Harstigen area.
