This unique lot contains a varied selection of Harmotome, Calcite and other mineral crystals from the Samson Mine in St. Andreasberg. The specimens mainly display white to light grey crystal aggregates with a variety of crystal habits, including compact coatings, fine crystalline druses and well-formed crystals. Together they provide an excellent overview of the diverse mineral assemblage from this classic Harz locality.
Geology & Origin
The Samson Mine in St. Andreasberg is one of the most famous historic ore mines of the Harz Mountains. In addition to economically important silver, lead and zinc ores, it produced a wide variety of secondary minerals and zeolites, including Harmotome and Calcite. Its exceptional mineral diversity has made the Samson Mine one of Germany's most renowned classic mineral localities.
