1 flat with larger Grape Agate pieces from Insonesia

This flat shows a representative selection of larger Grape Agate specimens with fine, spherical structures and delicate color tones ranging from light violet to grayish blue. Some pieces display greenish hues or semi-transparent areas that highlight the typical character of this variety of Chalcedony. The compact formation and silky matte surface make the pieces both mineralogically interesting and aesthetically appealing. Each flat offers a harmonious mix of different shapes and color transitions, serving as a vivid example of the characteristic appearance of this material.

Geology & origin

Grape Agate is a special variety of Chalcedony formed through the slow deposition of silica within gas-filled cavities of volcanic rocks. In this process, spherical aggregates develop that resemble grape clusters and give the variety its name. The specimens shown here come from Indonesia, one of the best-known localities for intensely colored agates with fine botryoidal structures.
