Grape Agate from Indonesia– small cabinet specimen as unique piece
This small cabinet specimen displays an intense violet to soft pink coloration with a strikingly botryoidal surface. The rounded aggregates show fine luster and a vivid color gradient from light tips to deeper purple zones. White chalcedony veins accentuate the contours, giving the piece a well-balanced and sculptural appearance. Its radiant color and harmonious texture make this an especially aesthetic example of Indonesian grape agate.
Geology & Origin
Grape Agate, a form of chalcedony, forms through the slow deposition of silica from hydrothermal fluids within gas cavities of volcanic rocks. The characteristic spherical structures develop as silica gel crystallizes in concentric layers. Indonesian localities, especially on Sulawesi and in West Java, are world-renowned for their intensely violet material, with hues influenced by trace elements such as manganese and iron.
