Garnierite from Sulawesi, Indonesia – 100 g

Garnierite with attractive green to turquoise colors, combined with brownish and light matrix portions. The irregular fragments show a compact structure. In places, small crystalline formations are visible, adding additional visual depth. Overall, the material displays a vivid color pattern typical for garnierite.

Geology & origin

Garnierite is not a single mineral in the strict sense, but a general term for nickel-bearing silicates that form in lateritic nickel deposits. These develop through intense weathering of ultramafic rocks in tropical climates. Sulawesi in Indonesia is a well-known source for such nickel-rich laterites and regularly produces garnierite in characteristic green color variations.

Application note

The material is suitable for collectors, further processing, or as educational material. It should be stored in a dry place and handled with care, as individual pieces may be fragile.
