This unique specimen shows Fukuchilite as small metallic gray to silver-gray mineral fragments protected inside a transparent capsule. The pieces display a distinct metallic luster and contrast clearly with the light-colored associated material.

Geology & Origin

Fukuchilite is a rare iron sulfide belonging to the pyrite group and occurs in sulfide ore mineralization. The Hanawa Mine in Akita Prefecture, Japan, is a polymetallic deposit known for various sulfide minerals and rarer mineral species.
